4. SMS/Text Messaging Privacy

If you voluntarily provide your mobile number and opt in to receive SMS/text messages from Explore Islam or Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, we may use your mobile number to send communications that you have agreed to receive.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be sold, rented, transferred, or shared with any third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

SMS consent is specific to the organization and messaging program to which you have opted in and will not be transferred to another organization for its own messaging purposes.

We may use telecommunications carriers, messaging platforms, and other service providers acting on our behalf where necessary to deliver or administer the messaging service. These providers are permitted to use information only as necessary to provide those services and not for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile service provider and plan.

You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to a message from us. After an opt-out request is processed, you will no longer receive SMS messages from that messaging program unless you subsequently opt in again.

Your decision whether to receive SMS messages is voluntary.

5. Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell or rent personal information.

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, meet legitimate operational requirements, maintain required records, or satisfy applicable legal obligations.

When information is no longer required, we may securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it, subject to applicable record-retention requirements.

We may retain a record of an SMS opt-out request where necessary to ensure that the individual does not continue receiving messages.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may contact us to:

  • Ask whether we hold personal information about you;
  • Request access to personal information we maintain about you;
  • Request that inaccurate information be corrected;
  • Withdraw consent for future communications where processing is based on consent; or
  • Request deletion of personal information where appropriate and legally permitted.

Withdrawing consent does not affect uses of information that occurred before consent was withdrawn or information that we are permitted or required to retain.

To stop SMS messages, you may also reply STOP to the message you receive.

Individuals under 18 should obtain permission from a parent or legal guardian before submitting personal information to us where parental or guardian consent is required.
